Gobble Gobble Cookies – Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Thanksgiving fellow readers!!!

What are you all doing today to celebrate?

I started my morning with a hot cup of coffee and some cookie decorating while the family slept. Since we are going to families houses for the turkey, all I had to do was pop a mac n cheese in the oven.

I made a few yummy Lemon Chiffon pies to bring along too. You can find that recipe on yesterday’s post!

I had a lot of fun baking these cookies!  For the cookies I let the dough come to room temperature and then scooped them onto an ungreased cookie sheet. I patted them down slightly and baked for 11 minutes at 350F.

I gathered these ingredients when they were completely cool and made these cuties here!!

30 oz package sugar cookie dough

192 pieces candy corn (6 per turkey)

32 peanut butter chips (1 per turkey)

white pearl sprinkles (for the eyes)

1 1/2 cans chocolate frosting (1 Tb per cookie)

Gobble Gobble!!!!

Isn’t he cute???

Even Jack wanted to try one (of course I kicked him out 😉😽)

Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy those turkeys!!🦃🦃🦃

Five Last Minute Halloween Activities for Busy Moms

I have all the time in the world. I mean, I’m home all day on maternity leave so I should right? My husband has been working a bit more hours and I’m home getting laundry done and dinner made and the house picked up.

Oh wait, let me wake up from my dream. I’m sitting on the sofa nursing my baby girl while quickly typing this and looking at a floor full of toys and pillows and clothes and socks.

I somehow managed to rally up all four of my kids yesterday and take them to lunch, to two separate parent teacher conferences, then to McDonald’s to reward them for good grades with ice cream cones and play time, and then drag them to the grocery store because I was determined to finally make my husband a good steak for dinner.

Oh yea, I have all the time in the world. (I made the steak dinner between nursing, but didn’t get to enjoy it because baby girl wanted to be put to bed.)

Well it got me thinking, where can I squeeze in more Halloween fun?

The boys’ painted pumpkins

Painting Mini Pumpkins
We were lucky enough to get this done last weekend. I found the cutest mini pumpkins for only 69 cents each at our local Trader Joes. Then I dug out the washable paint and the boys went crazy.

Fun-due Dippers
Make your kids a safe heat free fondue and make it a fun-due. Cut up apple chunks, slice strawberries in half, pluck several grapes, dice up some cheese and lay out some crackers and jumbo marshmallows.

Serve these bite sized goodies with pourable sundae toppings like caramel sauce and chocolate sauce and cream cheese spread. I found some delicious Pumpkin Cream Cheese Spread a friend recommended at Trader Joes. That works perfect with crackers AND fruit.

The boys’ Ghostly Lollies

Ghostly Lollies
I stole this idea from grade school and my son’s respite care worker. Wrap lollipops in Kleenex and tie them with mini rubberbands at the base. Draw eyes and silly faces on them with black markers to make sweet ghostly faces to hand out to friends and family.

Nutter Butter Ghosts and Mummies
I made these for a Halloween party when my oldest boy was in preschool. I dipped Nutter Butters in white melting chocolates and place mini chocolate chips for eyes.

Make it a kids craft by setting out a package of Nutter Butters and a can of vanilla frosting with mini chocolate chips and various sprinkles. Let them go crazy.

Yep we are gonna do some of these today. But first I shall bribe the kids into picking up the house so I can feel sane again.
